Offered for sale is a pair of Peru, IL. bottles. There is a 1957 Coca-Cola 6 ounce bottle. The bottom of the glass bottle is clearly marked "Peru" and "ILL.". The lower side of the bottle is marked 57-03 for 1957.
The second bottle is a Star Union bottle. The Star Union Brewery of Peru, IL was in operation from 1856 to 1966. This bottle is an oldie. The clear glass is embossed Star Union Products Co. on one side and Peru, IL on the other. The bottom has a large Star and 30N in raised lettering. The body of the bottle has a very unusual, embossed checkerboard pattern over a large portion of the bottle. This bottle probably comes from the 1930's based on the marking on the bottom of the bottle and this fits with the operating range of Star Union Products Co. I estimate the 30's because it was probably a Prohibition bottle (1919-1933) used while Star Union was not bottling beer but probably was bottling soda. This 7-1/2 ounce bottle has case wear.
